Israeli filmmakers Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon tackle matters of life and death with a bracing mixture of seriousness, sentiment and sharp black comedy. Go to Full Review

For all its talk of death, The Farewell Party, featuring a terrific ensemble cast, is a story about life. Always honest, graceful and funny it explores with deep compassion its characters familial and romantic relationships. Go to Full Review

It's taking a strong stand on the morality of mercy killing, no doubt, but it also acknowledges the precious glory of life. It's a rare film that can smile while studying suffering. Go to Full Review

The laughter leavens the suffering and you may not agree with all of the actions, but the movie will give you much to deliberate, debate and decide for yourself while you can. Go to Full Review

tom e 02/17/2017 I was unable to see much humor in this film. For me the funniest scene is shown with the photo on DVD case. Disappointed. See more 09/25/2016 As tongue-in-cheek as the title, this tragicomedy about a suicide squad of sorts at a Jerusalem retirement home masterfully deliberates the heavy subject on euthanasia with warmth and humour. See more 02/14/2016 The topic of mercy killing (aka euthanasia) is examined from several angles, including the fluid sense of acceptability depending on one's relationship to the patient. Viewers who have older family members with similar situations will find many scenes familiar and heartbreaking. This Israeli award winner if definitely worth the time. See more 01/14/2016 who knew terminal illness & dying could be so funny this is in my top 5 films of 2015. See more 12/22/2015 A comedy with mercy killings at main ingredient. An older group of friends tries to help out a man in big pain - he want's to die, but he needs help. They invent some sort of machine and the rumours about this machine gets to other people and they get much more attention than they want. Some funny scenes, but mostly a drama. I never feel with the characters but I'm never bored. 5.5 out of 10 button pushes. See more 12/07/2015 I expected more character from this movie. The movie did have a serious message of mercy killing of the terminally ill in which I agree. It's a tough subject to base a movie on. Kudos to the writer, director, and producers for approaching such a topic. See more Read all reviews
