tom e I was unable to see much humor in this film. For me the funniest scene is shown with the photo on DVD case. Disappointed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As tongue-in-cheek as the title, this tragicomedy about a suicide squad of sorts at a Jerusalem retirement home masterfully deliberates the heavy subject on euthanasia with warmth and humour. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The topic of mercy killing (aka euthanasia) is examined from several angles, including the fluid sense of acceptability depending on one's relationship to the patient. Viewers who have older family members with similar situations will find many scenes familiar and heartbreaking. This Israeli award winner if definitely worth the time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member who knew terminal illness & dying could be so funny this is in my top 5 films of 2015. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A comedy with mercy killings at main ingredient. An older group of friends tries to help out a man in big pain - he want's to die, but he needs help. They invent some sort of machine and the rumours about this machine gets to other people and they get much more attention than they want. Some funny scenes, but mostly a drama. I never feel with the characters but I'm never bored. 5.5 out of 10 button pushes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I expected more character from this movie. The movie did have a serious message of mercy killing of the terminally ill in which I agree. It's a tough subject to base a movie on. Kudos to the writer, director, and producers for approaching such a topic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) Israeli filmmakers Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon tackle matters of life and death with a bracing mixture of seriousness, sentiment and sharp black comedy. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 6, 2015 Full Review Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer For all its talk of death, The Farewell Party, featuring a terrific ensemble cast, is a story about life. Always honest, graceful and funny it explores with deep compassion its characters familial and romantic relationships. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 19, 2015 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News It's taking a strong stand on the morality of mercy killing, no doubt, but it also acknowledges the precious glory of life. It's a rare film that can smile while studying suffering. Rated: B Jun 12, 2015 Full Review Linda Cook Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) Power 'Farewell Party' centers on the end of life. Rated: 4/4 Jun 8, 2016 Full Review Barbara Vancheri Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The laughter leavens the suffering and you may not agree with all of the actions, but the movie will give you much to deliberate, debate and decide for yourself while you can. Rated: 3.5/4 May 26, 2016 Full Review Hugo Lara Correcámara A round film in spite of it's modest production values. [Full review in Spanish] May 5, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews
