08/12/2013 Review of several Chaplin films coming to themoviefreakblog.com on 9/15 See more 08/11/2012 This was neither written nor directed by Chaplin, and it shows. There is no sweetness or sentimentality here, and the Little Tramp trying to get rid of one of his rivals for the love of a girl by smashing him over the head with a mallet is not funny. See more 08/25/2010 Another one of Chaplin's early films. See more 09/07/2009 Wow, well the brick fighting was interesting. Not to mention the kidnapping and the assault on a female. Believe it or not, this is one of the more violent of Chaplin's early shorts, but its creativity staging the fights and its amusing ending keep it from utter mediocrity. See more Read all reviews
