      Critics Consensus

Traditional horror may not be on the menu, but for fans of the gruesomely disquieting, The Feast more than lives up to its name.

Andrew B Warning: light spoiler ahead. It's so irritating how many idiots rate a movie poorly just because every detail isn't spelled out for them. It's literally based on the concept of Gaia inhabiting a human vessel in order to punish a toxic, destructive and hedonistic family. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Jon V Tries to be intelligent, but fails. Horrible on every dimension. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review patrick b This is one of the top five horror films I've seen in the last 10 years. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review Rob G I slept on it after watching last night. Upon reflection, was actually a very interesting and unique story. However, it's extremely difficult to sit through. I can mind the slow burn pace. However, it gets a little to weird and art house for me at the end when all hell breaks loose. Had I rated it last night, it would have been worse. However, story was good. I just wished they could have executed things a little differently around the finale. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review Joe B What did I just watch? Seriously what the f*ck did I just watch? I have no clue. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review TYLER G Annes Elwy is the only thing redeeming about this one however well made it truly is. I eagerly await her next film. Anton Bitel Sight & Sound ...offers a feast for the eyes while accommodating more than one interpretation. For this is all at once environmental fable, anti-colonialist allegory, and Hanekean portrait of a family undone by its own errant appetites and all-consuming greed. Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) It avoids jump scares in favour of a long, slow build of tension – so slow that at times the characters appear to be in the grip of a kind of paralysis – that pays off with an explosively grisly final act. Rated: 3/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Marina Ashioti Little White Lies A half-baked misfire. Rated: 2/5 Aug 20, 2022 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street Reaching the main course of The Feast requires patience. Rated: 9/10 Jul 23, 2023 Full Review Nuha Hassan Hear Us Scream Jones’ directorial debut is a gore-filled horror fest that is centred around the environmental destruction of nature and family that deals with the consequences of it all, and it is one of the most exciting horror movies of the year. Jul 21, 2023 Full Review Emma Simmonds Radio Times The Feast communicates its rage with panache and passion, all held together by Elwy's magnificently unnerving eye-catcher of a performance.
