Audience Member A solid thriller. Cloris Leachman really packs a punch in this dark humor based film and is abundantly filled with numerous plot twists and cliffhangers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm only giving it 3 1/2 stars because of the ending. The acting was 5 stars. As everyone else has said Cloris Leachman was amazing. AMAZING. But wtf - why'd it have to end that way? I get that it was from the kids point of view but that view left when he did. WTF? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Cloris is fantastic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought this movie was very good, and much better acted than most horror flicks. It also scared me without blood, guts, and special effects. When I found out 3/4's of the way through that the events took place in my region, I was even more intrigued. I think many of the bad reviews are coming from people that want what they expect from something that falls within the horror genre. Give this movie a chance, but don't look for Freddy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A good film however not scary at all. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The Fields was OK. Nothing special, but enjoyable. This is the story of a young boy being looked after his grandparents while his parents work things out. He was given one rule. Don't go into the corn field. So naturally he does and bad things begin to happen. This movie is interesting in that all of the 'horror' happens off screen, not even seen or even directly referenced. However, it is more from the point of view of this young boy and his handling of it, and trying to understand it. At the same time Charles Manson has just been caught and the media is having a hayday, which of course adds to the paranoia and fear of this boy. The story was good overall, and acting pretty decent. Mark Olsen Los Angeles Times Flat and lifeless, not even the odd object promised by its unlikely cast, who play it straight and with little energy. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 19, 2012 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com It's a quintessential Leachman performance. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Sep 7, 2020 Full Review Heather Wixson Dread Central By no means is the flick terrible, it's just very bland and lacks any sort of thrilling aspects that one would come to expect from a 'thriller.' Rated: 2/5 Apr 19, 2012 Full Review Robin Clifford Reeling Reviews This low-budget thriller looks more expensive than it is with its imaginative use of set, like the spooky amusement park and, outstandingly, the titular cornfields. Rated: B Nov 7, 2011 Full Review Laura Clifford Reeling Reviews ...no higher compliment could be paid "The Fields" than its constant recollection of the Spanish masterpiece "Spirit of the Beehive"...
