      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Flintstones wastes beloved source material and imaginative production design on a tepid script that plunks Bedrock's favorite family into a cynical story awash with lame puns.

Jonathan W This movies was my absolute favourite when I was a little kid! Watching it now as an adult, I love it even more with all the adult based jokes I never heard before as I was too young to understand! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Anthony M You can tell that a lot of detail went into this movie and I love the story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Owen H This is a brilliant film. I dont understand why there's so much Disdain for it. It was fun and entertaining as a kid, and I still love it today. It's funny, clever, and is enjoyable for the whole family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Justin O Okay I don't understand the hate this movie gets. It's a great adaptation with a fantastic cast, excellent sense of humor, and an amazingly realized world. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review SkyRo P The film is funny and its own right, it's definitely a cult classic and an nostalgia film It should not have a rotten score. It should be right at the minimum of a rotten score, but to at least be fresh, because it does deliver everything than it needs to deliver to make it a fun and quirky movie. I think that the film itself is underrated and overlooked, for what it did during that timeframe but it's definitely a very creative and funny film. The CGI is bad but that's OK. I definitely recommend the film Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Ashlee H This was one of my favorite childhood movies and I still love it 30 years later! Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Through the miracle of movies, we all join the The Flintstones in becoming living, breathing, snorting garbage disposal units. Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune Our Flick of the Week is "The Flintstones," and unfortunately, much less thought has been put into this screenplay than into the production design and publicity campaign for this profoundly dull enterprise. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Steve Warren Southern Voice (Atlanta) State-of-the-art effects, courtesy of Industrial Light and Magic and presenter "Steven Spielrock," and throwaway sight gags that will encourage return visits, turn what might have been a yabba-dabba-dud into a yabba-dabba-doozy of a summer movie.
