Ed Potton Times (UK) It’s superficially less bleak than Tangerine, rendered by Baker in tropical colours, but poverty lurks throughout. Jul 29, 2022 Full Review Christy Lemire What the Flick?! I knew form the first shot that I was watching a truly great movie... It's so real, it's so raw. Rated: 9.6/10 Sep 26, 2018 Full Review Kambole Campbell One Room With A View A work that combines boundless energy and childlike enthusiasm with dark social realism, Sean Baker's wildly inventive style of filmmaking has resulted in the gorgeous masterpiece that is The Florida Project. Rated: 5/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Baker’s brave and bracing film is far from a whimsical fable. It is a dramatic thumbnail depiction of a growing section of this nation’s culture that many may not want to admit exists, let alone condone. Rated: 5/5 Oct 13, 2024 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Baker's vision for The Florida Project is brilliant in concept and even more vital in execution. The ending to this film is easily some of the best filmmaking of 2017. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Trevor Johnston Radio Times Its potent combination of empathy, observation and miraculously natural performances make this a modern classic, with strong echoes of Ken Loach's very best work. Grant H Brilliant film capturing the struggles of a family in tough times. Beautifully shot as it has Sean Baker’s style all over it. I know a lot of people are probably back tracking to watch this movie after Sean’s success with Anora, just as I did. Wild how well the kids performed in the movie, diving into blissful misbehavior while also handling some serious real life situations from their adult counterparts. BRAVO! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Oaklee D Wow, just wow this film uniquely captures the odd innocence of misbehaving children, not caring much about the world around them as kids do. It is full of charm throughout. This film is the definition of kids being kids. Dafoe is fantastic in this film also. Definitely recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Lasse L This movie feels completely authentic and properly dramatic - a difficult balance. The performances are fantastic across the board which is especially impressive considering all the child actors. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Jacob B Gritty slice of life that is from the viewpoint of a small girl living with her mother in a sleazy motel with other struggling denizens, while all around them affluent Americans are flocking to nearby Disney World . Difficult to watch, but absolutely worth your time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review Audience Member Terrible movie! Made me sick to watch Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Kimberley S Amazing film about a struggling mother through the lens of a child.
