SR C I adore underdog stories where the character is underestimated and shocks everyone by overcoming the situation. This story is especially good since Jackie Chan is showcased. Chan is slowing down, but he is not slow. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Kiss K The movie brilliantly depicts the struggles faced by immigrants, offering a moving portrayal of their challenges. What stands out most in the film is the cleverness of the main character, reminiscent of MacGyver, as he uses his military skills to set traps. This adds depth to his character and ramps up the suspense. While the film's exploration of immigrant hardships is commendable, it's the protagonist's resourcefulness that truly makes The Foreigner captivating and memorable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Stephen M Roller coaster of emotions from the start. Jamie Chan plays a great old simple man dad looking for revenge. Great movie. Loved it truly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Alec B Perhaps a bit too dour, but this still a lean and mature thriller that utilizes both Chan and Brosnan really well. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Alain M Jackie Chan's 'The Foreigner' is a riveting thriller that showcases both his impeccable martial arts skills and his depth as a dramatic actor. The film's intense narrative keeps you hooked from start to finish as Chan's character embarks on a relentless quest for justice. The action sequences are masterfully executed, delivering adrenaline-pumping moments that highlight Chan's iconic style. Supported by a solid cast and a tightly woven plot, 'The Foreigner' is a gripping ride that balances emotional depth with pulse-pounding action, making it a standout in Chan's versatile career Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/04/24 Full Review DMC M Jacky Chan bouncing around all over the place at 79 years of age is something. At first I felt his character was nuts, but it all makes sense by the end of the movie. Not a bad movie, a lot of action, explosions and dead bodies. Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle The Foreigner could've used less of Brosnan's bombast, frankly, and more of the mysterious Mr. Quan, but this dark-edged little razor blade of a film is ultimately a satisfying comeback for Chan. More, please. Rated: 3/5 Dec 27, 2017 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times The scene in which Chan beats up David Pearse and Michael McElhatton through three floors of a Belfast B&B in itself justifies your attention. Rated: 3/5 Dec 16, 2017 Full Review Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader Martin Campbell directed this twisty, bracing political thriller, giving Chan room to display his dramatic ability and letting Brosnan flesh out a vigorous, complex character who's surrounded by frenemies with secrets of their own. Oct 19, 2017 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is a superb film for Jackie Chan, who really needs to flex his dramatic muscles more often. Rated: 7/10 Sep 26, 2022 Full Review Howard Gorman NME (New Musical Express) Jackie Chan puts in his finest performance to date in this bracing political thriller that gave him the chance to prove both his acting and karate chops. Jun 11, 2021 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Not a memorable movie but it is a welcome return to the action genre for Chan and Brosnan after too long a time away.
