martin a What a fantastic film, Charles Hawtrey steals the show as the schoolboy, but this has a comedy feel but with some very dark issues such as murder and spying. It would have made a great thriller but it is an enjoyable timepiece. Will Hay is the least appealing thing about the film, and his comedy has dated poorly The murdered headmasters and the secret rooms make it all a wonderful delight. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Will Hay is an incompetent schoolmaster who gets a job teaching at a boys school which is being evacuated to a castle on the Isle of Skye. There is some skulduggery going on at the school, and despite his general hopelessness as a schoolmaster, Will Hay manages to outwit the villains with the help of fellow teacher Claude Humberto and precocious schoolboy Charles Hawtrey. Absolutely hilarious. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member An amusing Ealing Studios haunted castle comedy--Masters at Work!!
