Sunday Night Streaming o The Ghost Trap – 8.0 - I went into this one completely blind and found myself fully immersed in the world of a lobsterman in Maine, a setting that immediately piqued my interest, as Maine is a place I’ve always wanted to visit. I haven’t read the book, but I can imagine it’s a true tearjerker if anyone’s looking for a good cry. The film tackles some heavy, dark topics right out of the gate, pulling you into an emotional journey. While this isn’t my usual genre of choice, the weighty drama locks you in as things start to unravel. The story follows a man thrown into a life-altering, impossible situation, forced to live with the guilt and responsibilities that come with it. The crossroads between doing what’s right and following his own desires create a powerful internal struggle that drives the film. Zak Steiner and Greer Grammer deliver captivating performances at the heart of this story. However, the dynamic between Zak and Sarah Catherine Hook stood out the most to me. Hook shines in her role, balancing the fine line between right and wrong as her character falls for a man in one of the stickiest situations imaginable. Having loved her in Cruel Intentions Season 1, it’s been amazing to watch her career take off, and I look forward to seeing her in the new season of the White Lotus. The Ghost Trap is a sorrowful film that doesn’t shy away from showing the weight of struggles people often keep hidden. It’s a deep, emotional story that’s well worth the watch, official sundaynightstreaming rating of 8.0 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review Ray C The Ghost Trap is a heavy film but worth watching. It's like a dark Hallmark film. The lead actor gives a standout performance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Gregory S Such a great great film! Definitely worth the watch. Great acting, directing, and story telling. Very intense at times and a great peek into the small Maine town lobstering community. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Charlie M This is "Spielberg" level story telling! I hadn't heard of this director before, James Khanlarian, but he is amazing. You literally get lost in this wonderful story of the life of a young fisherman. The location and atmosphere of Maine is magical, beautifully captured and portrayed. The story is both dark and brooding and yet emotionally really poignant. It's just wonderful film making. I gave it 5 stars, I would have given it a 10! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review kelly h sorrow movie with spectacular cast and scenery. the main characters draw you in with their authenticity, but watching them deal with guilt, responsibilities, and ultimately giving into temptation, is like watching a train wreck -- sad, but worth the watch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review AJ T I wasn’t sure what I was getting into, but I’m so glad I did! The script is great, the performances are authentic and amazing, and the audience is truly transported into this dynamic and thrilling and heartwarming/heart wrenching life of lobstermen in Maine and the community and all that involves. The directing and cinematography is also really well done, nothing seems to have gone unnoticed. So much TLC in this film, and seeing actors I already knew but in roles I’ve never seen them in before. Always an amazing feat when that can be pulled off seamlessly.
