Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), the heir to the largest newspaper fortune in Los Angeles, is a spoiled playboy who has been, thus far, happy to lead an aimless life. After his father (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Britt meets Kato (Jay Chou), a resourceful company employee. Realizing that they have the talent and resources to make something of their lives, Britt and Kato join forces as costumed crime-fighters to bring down the city's most-powerful criminal, Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz).

It's a different take on superhero movies with an unconventional lead in Seth Rogen. Not all of the jokes land, and some of the immature antics feel out of place, but overall, The Green Hornet is entertaining, nonetheless. Christoph Waltz is the real star of this picture, with his insecurity and power-hungriness elevating the plot.

Gets WAYYYY too much hate by critics. I always thought this movie was funny and fun. Movies don’t always have to be a meaningful experience, they can be fun sometimes too and mindless. That is the thing about this movie though, it’s not like a typical super hero movie that aims for an uplifting story, it’s not a good movie on paper, and thus; critics and people expecting a good super hero movie will be disappointed. The story is ok, the action is fun but not super good looking at times and overdone, the villain sucks, Seth Rogan is ok, and the movie overall is just…ok. But if you go into it wanting something to watch that’s not super serious and dark and deep feeling, it’s a fun watch with corny action, some funny humor, and a fun super hero experience that mimics sophomoric humor and entertainment. I think, if you turn off your rose-tinted glasses and go in like you’re watching Wayne’s World, you will have fun with this movie. If you go in expecting a well-written and well thought out movie, you will hate it. Bottom line, it’s a good movie when you’re in the right mood, and that mood is fun and non-judgmental. It’s not for everyone, so that’s why I give it the rating it deserves. Not good, not bad, but fun. It’s not for everyone, but hey, it could be for you! :)
