Rod J Excellent movie. It wasn't the typical outcome, it was real. Great movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Martin B Living conditions tough but it appears they hyperbolized the conditions beyond reason. At the rate they were committing suicide there wouldn't be any young people left after a few years. They admitted to the fact the assistant coach was not a big drinker. Looked like a village was in dyer poverty but they raised an enormous amount of money for the trip. Many of the players went on to have success, it wasn't all from lacrosse so there had to be support systems in place they could take advantage of. Poetic license is one thing but the writers took it too far. Clearly it was a good story and could have been just as heart warming by dialing the draconian conditions back a notch or two. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/31/23 Full Review EAGAN B This movie game me the chills in a good way and if you truly love the sport lacrosse this movie is for you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/23 Full Review rebecca s A hidden gem. It starts out quiet, but the story unfolds dramatically with authenticity and beauty the way great stories should be told. The whole cast is stellar. For 1 hour and 46 minutes, I was a Grizzlie. I felt what they felt, suffered what they suffered, learned what they learned. That's the best compliment a movie can have, when you get lost in it. It's based on a true story so the end credits are the icing on the cake. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I think the movie was honestly really good. It stays real and doesn't sugar coat things. There was instances of suicide throughout the movie as well as the kids struggles and what they go through daily. It opens your eyes to what it's like especially when you're someone who's got the privilege to be in a better situation. The characters were all likable in their own ways and had a depth to them that helped form that care for them. In the end, I liked how real this movie was. I like how it doesn't try to hide things rather than show them face on. The acting by the cast was also very real and believable when some movies fail to do that. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful and powerful film. I was a little afraid that it would have too much white savior in it, but I really fell in love with the Inuit youth and with Adam's grandparents. RIP Emerald MacDonald. Nell Minow RogerEbert.com Though it's a familiar plot about kids learning discipline and teamwork through sports, The Grizzlies is brought to life through the specifics that make the characters and their sense of place -- and of displacement -- central to the story.
