Jennifer S I found this movie very entertaining and so so creepy. So wish there was a sequel because the ending was a perfect seqway to have one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Art W Forgettable, predictable, and just not a very good movie... the special effects were okay and the acting was decent, but the story itself wasn't compelling and the character development was non existent.. do yourself a favor and find something better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Kai H This was a wonderful take on all the Fair Folk legends and myths of Britain and Ireland, not to mention the visual effects! Definitely a must see if you are a fan of sci fi and fairy tales both. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Jadynn W Better than alot of stuff coming out 13 years later . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review Hugo S A family moves into a remote house in Ireland to survey a strange fungus infesting the nearby forest. They soon have a hostile reception from the locals who believe the new neighbours are disturbing malevolent entities. "The Hallow" is an effective combo of two horror subgenres: Irish folklore and body transformation. The audience will find real terror in this forest inhabited by ancient evil creatures. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/18/23 Full Review john b Kept me entertained. The creatures were kind of cool but overall the movie was fairly forgettable. Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com By the time The Hallow builds to its breathtakingly personal climax, it's hard not to be impressed by what Hardy has accomplished. Rated: 3/4 Aug 22, 2016 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times The Hallow promises to be an Irish mythological horror, replete with wee folk and banshees. Unhappily, it merely namechecks these entities and delivers nothing of the sort. Rated: 2/5 Feb 23, 2016 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader This ecologically themed horror movie scores points for atmosphere and imagination, though it isn't particularly scary. The characters are little more than ciphers, so I wasn't inclined to root for them when they got into trouble. Nov 19, 2015 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It definitely had me hooked and I think if you guys like a little action-packed, monster folktales this one is for you. Rated: 7/10 Apr 30, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com While The Hallow indeed captures a certain ambience lost in many glossy, effects laden contemporary horror films, it's a monster movie without any teeth. Oct 8, 2020 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews An atmospheric haunted-house fright tale involving paranormal activities, ecological themes, folklore tales and lots of scares.
