The director George Amponsah embeds himself in north London to unravel the background, and the subjects of his powerful documentary are Duggan's best friends. Go to Full Review

"The Hard Stop" is most successful when it shows the gradual changes that Duggan's death has caused in the men's lives, and its longitudinal focus helps the viewer sympathize with its subjects. Go to Full Review
Tara Brady Irish Times 08/09/2016

The Hard Stop doesn't spoon-feed its audience. The film prefers driving around Tottenham's Broadwater Farm with the two riled, but grief-stricken men listening to stories from their childhood and teens. Go to Full Review

11/28/2016 Once you get your head around the annoying dialect and accents of the protagonists it is a decent documentary. See more 07/23/2016 maybe a few scenes were but needed but a sitter heavy film enjoyed See more 07/21/2016 I cannot recommend this film highly enough. In August 2011, a young unarmed black man was shot by the police. The media said "yeah but he was a bad guy" and the public said "ah well he probably deserved it then". This film shows the man behind the headlines, the humanity, and the grieving community left behind. The film also gives what feels like a very intimate and honest insight into the lives of young black men growing up on the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham - it's raw and hard to watch at times but there is humour and hope as well as frustration and despair. I've never really faced discrimination or prejudice and I've had opportunities handed to me on a plate my whole life, so it's hard to put myself in the shoes of the protagonists. The power of this film for me is that it challenges your assumptions and prejudices and allows you to relate as human beings. I have a huge amount of respect for Marcus and Kurtis for putting themselves and their lives out there for everyone to see, warts and all, to try and get justice for their friend. A must-see... See more 07/18/2016 Close look at the friends of Mark Duggan and the aftermath of it all. Interesting enough but nothing too revelatory to those who follow the news.
