McKenna H This was one of the most moving films I've seen in a while. It was beautiful to see representation of the difficult dynamics within an immigrant family and everything it takes to navigate that. This film will definitely open up conversations between generations. Highly recommend, I did cry while watching this Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/25 Full Review Kerri M Great film. Discovered it on Hoopla the.City of Toronto library website. Authentic narrative, themes and excellent cast. I found it very engaging and highly recommend it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/25 Full Review Elijah L. Genuine performances and real moments that breathe life. The line “Don’t you want to make your family proud?” is a thought that any child, especially children of immigrants, can resonate with. Tradition is meant to strengthen connection, not suppress the exploration of our lives and what makes them unique. All parents want the best for their children, but they must also recognize the power they have in healing their own wounds. Love is action. Love is sacrifice. It isn’t given, it cannot be controlled, and it certainly isn’t easy. We only have so much time with our children before they leave the nest, and only so much time with our parents before they pass us by. Make the moments we have count. And maybe spend some of that time watching movies like this that help bridge that connection. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/25 Full Review Valerie D I recvd this movie as a gift & really liked the story line. It's well written with a completely different plot and interesting perspective on family life within a different culture. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/25 Full Review Lulu C The Harvest – A Must-Watch for Every Family The Harvest is a powerful, emotionally resonant film that explores the ties that bind us—and the wounds that linger. Directed by Caylee So, written by Doua Moua and produced by John Houselog and Doua Moua (Gran Torino, Mulan), it follows Thai as he returns home to confront his past, his family, and himself. What makes The Harvest unforgettable is its emotional honesty. The performances are raw and deeply human, the direction intimate and restrained, and the writing strikes a perfect balance between heartbreak and hope. This is a universal story—about love, reconciliation, and the unspoken truths that live in every home. Verdict: A beautifully told, must-watch film for every family. The Harvest will stay with you long after the credits roll. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
