Budd Wilkins Slant Magazine The Haunting of Julia is a melancholy and eerily ambiguous horror film. Rain M Ugh, what an incredibly stupid and oblivious synopsis. As Julia herself says, things were wrong for a long time, and without Katie? What point was there in even trying? The Haunting of Julia utilizes Mia Farrow's fragile strength to its best, imo. After the tragedy that sets the scene, we're left wondering: are we seeing Farrow's progressing madness? Or is she discovering a true mystery? Set against a haunting soundtrack, the Haunting of Julia opens many questions. Are they answered? Is left for interpretation. We know how it ends. Do we know how it got there? Most definitely not through the original reviewer's "happy marriage". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Peter W Overall, if you are seeking an old fashion ghost story, The Haunting of Julia / Full Circle is worth your viewing time. The film begins with drama, heartbreak and trauma that set the leading character on a mysterious and creepy journey. The atmosphere is outstanding and filled with unsettling tones and cleverness, along with high amounts of creativity in the filming style from Director Richard Loncraine. As the credits rolled, the journey left a strong, lasting impression and left me feeling both heavy-hearted and deeply amazed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Jonathan O The Haunting of Julia is really amazing chilling supernatural thriller and superb strong performance by Mia Farrow since Rosemary's Baby, the musical score is really chilling and haunting great cinematography and stylish costume design and great directing. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review lulu b I happened to find this little gem through youtube. It was a 1970s horror film and if anyone knows how to create a horror film it's the 1970s. It stars Mia Farrow who plays the young mother, Julia. It couldn't have been too far off from Rosemary's Baby as she still has the same Vidal Sassoon haircut. Again she is playing a vulnerable character but this one is not playing the victim. After suffering a horrific and sudden loss she finds herself wanting to start over on her own in a different place, a different house. She longs for independence from a suffocating marriage. Enter the house (I LOVE a house as a character)which is enticingly beautiful but with an extremely dark history. Spiritually and emotionally Julia becomes connected to the house and what it harbors. Ultimately the film asks the question, does evil ever die? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/26/23 Full Review Brad P Dripping with atmosphere and anchored by a solid leading performance from Farrow, this is the kind of little-seen horror gem fans of the genre should be eager to see. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it! Mia Farrow is fabulous in this role. The music was perfect. Creepiness factor was great. All the actors did a wonderful job.
