I’ll get right to the point (of the spear), this is my favorite horror film of the current decade (and probably beyond). It may not be for everyone, however. If you like dialogue loaded, cgi heavy, thin world building and un-immersive experiences, this is probably not for you. The Head Hunter is a wonderfully resourceful homage to classic horror sfx that is beautifully captured over an amazing landscape. I understand that this was done on a minimal budget by Thanskilling creator Jordan Downey. Having seen that you’d not think this is the same filmmaker. The pacing is slow, but I’ve never had an issue with that when it comes to a story with good cinematography, and an interesting story. Use your imagination when watching and imaging the world our hero lives in…and clinch your fists as he goes after each bounty. I want to see more of this kinda stuff from Downey and I want to see Christopher Rygh’s star rise.

After seeing the other glowing reviews, I was hoping to see a really good movie, unfortunately, that's not what I got. I was bored pretty much the entire time. It was clearly very low budget with a poor plot and almost no fight scenes.

The trailer to the movie sounded intriguing. However you never really understand why he is head hunting in the first place besides his daughter died. They sort of set it up to make you think the monster is a vampire, then you never really find it what it is. Next without muscles,ligaments, and tendons a skeletal structure can not move. They didn't even explain this with magic or demonic possession or anything really. Finally the big bad of the films fight scene was terrible.

A simple story about a hunter's quest for vengeance. It's short and to the point. Little dialogue and all atmosphere. Most of the fights take place off-screen which is a little annoying but it is very effective for the type of film that this is.
