As the surreal rituals become increasingly more extreme, the troubled woman must confront her inner demons while she tries to escape the cult community and their questionable practices. "The Healing" is a folk horror movie that tackles the modern trend of relying on metaphysical therapy to restore mental health. Despite its relevant social topic, the slow-burn narrative culminates with an uninteresting climax. Those viewers who expect a boiling point worth the wait will certainly be disappointed! A bit of culture shock for our characters, and hopefully, this is only just the beginning of the unknown for their adventure. I'm really starting to enjoy the feeling of being caught off guard with how they bring out emotional trauma. Superb job in keeping me off kilter, and at no time did I feel in control of my perception of what I was seeing. I absolutely must rewatch this film.
