The main character is a female physician in a small town, and her husband died two years ago. While some of the other characters may still be grieving with her, it is as if she has exceeded the socially acceptable amount of time to grieve, and they are trying to get her back out there. In response, she hires someone to play her boyfriend to get everyone off of her back without having to open herself up to another relationship. Then, of course, they end up falling for one another.
