I remember it being better but think it does not age well as you can tell it was Made for the big push on 3D movies in the late 2000s. My Daughter was 9 at the time and it was what got her into scary movies

The Hole – Wovor hast Du Angst? Ist ein Horrorfilm von Joe Dante (Regie), das Drehbuch schrieb Mark L. Smith. Obwohl der Film fast ohne Blut auskommt, spielt er mit den Ängsten der Jugendlichen. Der Film könnte ein solider Gruselfilm für die Familie sein.
