Reviews At the end of World War II, Lt. Merle Wye (Jim Hutton) is given the task of capturing the sole remaining Japanese person on an American-controlled island in the Pacific. Audience Member lame service comedy WWII post WWII Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly but a charmer. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member ★★ (out of four) Amiable, but fairly dull comedy with Jim Hutton and Paula Prentiss. It's World War II and more action is happening between the sexes than on the battlefield. Jim Hutton plays Lieutenant Wye. It is the end of World War II in the Pacific. Wye is assigned to bring in a Japanese lone hold-out on an island. He and another lieutenant (Paula Prentiss) romance each other. I love Paula Prentiss, but she can't make the film very interesting. Paula prentiss is most always enjoyable. Jim Hutton does a good job. Decent supporting cast. But, the film is on the stupid side.
