At the end of World War II, Lt. Merle Wye (Jim Hutton) is given the task of capturing the sole remaining Japanese person on an American-controlled island in the Pacific. Wye is a bumbling fool, however, clumsy and awkward, so when level-headed Lt. Molly Blue (Paula Prentiss) shows up to help him, it's not a moment too soon. Though they are quite different in temperament and intelligence, the two young officers work together -- and fall in love along the way.

05/23/2016 lame service comedy WWII post WWII See more 05/25/2014 Silly but a charmer. See more 09/25/2009 ★★ (out of four) Amiable, but fairly dull comedy with Jim Hutton and Paula Prentiss. It's World War II and more action is happening between the sexes than on the battlefield. Jim Hutton plays Lieutenant Wye. It is the end of World War II in the Pacific. Wye is assigned to bring in a Japanese lone hold-out on an island. He and another lieutenant (Paula Prentiss) romance each other. I love Paula Prentiss, but she can't make the film very interesting. Jim Hutton does a good job. Decent supporting cast. But, the film is on the stupid side. See more Read all reviews
