Nick James Sight & Sound The Hunt is a tremendously gripping melodrama. Aug 29, 2017 Full Review Francesca Steele Independent (UK) [The Hunt] is a splendid return to form for director Thomas Vinterberg. Aug 11, 2017 Full Review David Harris Spectrum Culture The Hunt is most fascinating when dissecting what happens to someone whose reputation has been destroyed. Rated: 3.8/5 Nov 19, 2019 Full Review Brian D. Johnson Maclean's Magazine This is not a work of Dogme vérité; it's a more polished piece. Jul 31, 2019 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie The Hunt may have been too see-through for me to truly enjoy it, but Vinterberg has crafted a very good movie here. Rated: 7.5/10 Jul 2, 2019 Full Review Michael Sicinski Cinema Scope The fact that anyone is taking The Hunt seriously as a look at community panic around pedophilia, or the mass psychology of scapegoating, or even as a solid slice of middlebrow realism, is truly confounding. martin f An awful low-budget movie... Don't read the critics there, they are all for the other The Hunt (2012) movie... the one with Mads Mikkelsen (yeah there were two The Hunt movies in 2012). It's not there fault but it's kind of funny to read their reviews saying that this is a deep and intelligent film knowing now that this The Hunt is actually your basic low-budget horror with cheap nudity scenes, violence, lowbrow humor, and awful dialogue, acting and directing. I still thought the very beginning was pretty cool despite looked cheap but as soon as the first line of dialogue is said you know how bad the movie will be.
