Jonathan F Dick Bogarde was excellent in what must have been one of his early screen roles. Tight pacing. And that's the plot. They move from South London via the smoke stacks of the North, and finally a Scottish fishing village, surviving on raw eggs, carrots and Woodbines. Of most interest for the quirks and views of ration book Britain, a good early performance by Dirk Bogarde, and some fine B&W cinematography.
