Critics Consensus

The Hustle's stars might make an effective comedy team in a different setting, but this gender-flipped remake of a remake adds little beyond its feminine twist.

A generally unfunny and regressive remake. Go to Full Review

This is a slab of cold, unfunny comedy, just lying there, very very odd given the two talented performers at the center of it. Go to Full Review

The Hustle just isn't very good, and the only con being pulled is on any audience member who has found themselves coerced into buying a ticket. Go to Full Review

It’s not even bad enough to get needlessly angry over. It just exists; a stasis that’s probably more demeaning than if the film had been purely horrendous. Go to Full Review

..a decent time-passer…the humour is girlish, silly, and without the whiff of misogyny that makes the previous versions feel rather unpalatable today… Go to Full Review

Whatever you want to call Chris Addison’s The Hustle — a remake, a reimagining, a lazy retread — either way, his film is unoriginal, uninspired, and unworthy of your time. Go to Full Review

Joanna T @aerialgirly92 21h Entertaining movie to watch once. The ending is bad. There are 2 women who lie their way through life in order to get men to give them money: a big fat woman, and a pretty skinny woman. They meet each other. They team up but the pretty one still has 1 foot out the door. She doesn't want to be permanent teammates. The fat one refuses to leave the city/territory. They try to outdo each other. Then they realized there wasn't room for both of them so they place a bet: whoever gets a tech guy to pay them will win, and the loser must leave. Turns out, the tech guy played them both & extracted money from them both while they were each trying to win. He is also a con man. In the end, all 3 of them (incl the guy) team up to continue playing people and getting money. I wished the tech guy did turn out to be a kind soul like he initially was portrayed! See more Witty A. @Witty Dec 19 offers a fresh and engaging take on the drama genre, blending chill vibes with an intriguing storyline. Josephine Chesterfield’s performance adds depth and authenticity, making the film both relatable and captivating. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 18 Hustle is a lively and entertaining film that blends humor, charm, and quirky storytelling into a fun package. The movie introduces audiences to a world of hustlers, with Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway at the center. Hathaway delivers a consistently strong and engaging performance, embodying her character with charisma and comedic timing that keeps viewers invested. Wilson, on the other hand, is a mixed bag—at times amusing and dynamic, at other moments uneven, creating a performance that is unpredictable but occasionally compelling. The screenplay has its flaws, with moments that are corny or slightly over-the-top, but the film’s cheeky humor and creative dynamics carry it through, making it enjoyable despite its imperfections. While not perfect, it maintains attention, balances comedy and character development, and offers a unique, lighthearted story about two hustlers navigating their world with charm and humor.
