Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter's trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn't long before Hayes' superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.

Those movie was a pleasant surprise for me. So well executed, a fun and sexy fantasy with a healthy dose of realism. They don't shy away from the age gap or the implications of public opinion or fame. It is not cheaply dealt with by the movie which is wonderful to see. Anne shines in this and she and her costar brings so much heart. Beautiful and fun movie!

This movie sucked. Don't get me wrong, I love Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway. But this movie was so stupid because in my opinion, why make a romance movie if the characters aren't gonna end up together? You really learn to love the characters and their relationship, but then it ends way too fast and painfully. The movie will make you cry because of the characters relationship not working out. This movie was a waste of my time and I wouldn't wish this pain upon anyone.

The trouble with The Idea of You is that it's working with a low degree of difficulty. It asks you to simply believe a 40-year-old woman could fall in love with a 24-year-old man. That is believable. But can we buy into the fact that a 24-year-old man might actually feel something more than loin-tingling with each time they touch? Cue Eric Carmen. ... And count me as a believer.
