Always liked his work and loved seeing Nestor Carbonell and Mira Sorvino too. And Sasha Pieterse nails the twin thing...very "Pretty Little Liars." This thing had 90's thriller vibes...which is my flavor, so it figured I enjoyed it. The film makers definitely seem to be in on the joke...they know what movie they are making and lean into it. I'm usually pretty good at guessing endings before they happen, but this one really kept me out of the loop until the very end. The film score was incredible, the directing was beautiful, and it was seamless how they had Sasha play both characters in multiple scenes. It gets pretty steamy though, so I'd avoid it if you're squeamish with nudity/sex. The Image of You is the kind of thriller that makes you wonder if anyone involved actually read the script before cashing their checks. What should have been a slick, pulpy story about identical twins and twisted obsession instead plays like a made-for-TV melodrama that got lost on its way to Lifetime. The “thrills” are flat, the romance is hollow, and the whole thing stumbles forward like it’s trying to trip over its own clichés just to get to the end credits. The cast is technically present, but no one escapes the gravitational pull of the atrocious writing. Characters make whiplash-inducing choices without any buildup, dialogue sounds like AI-generated soap opera filler, and the supposedly shocking moments land with all the impact of a damp sponge. Worst of all, there’s just no tension—when your erotic thriller feels neither erotic nor thrilling, you’ve already failed the assignment. What remains is a shapeless, joyless slog that wastes both its premise and its performers. The Image of You doesn’t just misfire; it dissolves into nothingness while pretending it’s still worth your time. Final rating: 0.5 out of 5 evil twin tropes, and that’s me being generous. See more 06/01/2024 The image of someone who looks like you alone is amazing but also very deadly Jeff Fisher directs Sasha Pieterse of 'Pretty Little Liars' fame in dual roles 31 years ago identical twins Anna and Zoe were born as a rarity Cut to present day one of them ends up dead; but we flash to sometime earlier when both of them were alive at the same time Zoe is an actress and Anna is looking for romance even though her sister finds it dull and boring believing lying is the foundation of every relationship Anna falls for a guy Nick but digging into his past unravels a tale of desire and deception The film is expertly shot and Pieterse does an amiable job playing twin sisters The twist ending is definitely something truly twisted in its own right It almost plays like a straight up lifetime thriller although there are gaping plot holes you can't help but notice It's quite over the top no doubt with the kooky music, erotic vibe, and comic book like editing It doesn't have to make sense 100% but a thriller like this hits the mark for pure entertainment with Sasha Pieterse in the lead See more Read all reviews
