Deborah Ross The Spectator The Infidel just doesn't cut it as a drama, a comedy, a satire or anything bar a rather dull cartoonish farce. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Rick Groen Globe and Mail Tthis thing plays like a cheeky Brit-com blown up to feature length, with a thin coat rack of plot to hang the ethnic humour on, and a wish to offend without being offensive. Rated: 2/4 Aug 20, 2010 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times An admirably cagey effort to mine humor from the thorny cultural and racial divide that is Muslim-Jewish relations. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 24, 2010 Full Review Sahar Beyad emel I think it was rather brave of Baddiel to go down the route of exploring religious stereotypes, and using mockery rather than satire. Jul 21, 2021 Full Review Stuart McGurk NME (New Musical Express) It looks like corporate information video shot in a day with a loo roll, some cling film, and recorded onto tracing paper. Repent, my son. Repent. Rated: 1/10 May 19, 2021 Full Review Kaleem Aftab The List It's just such a crying shame that after a promising initial burst of energy, The Infidel runs out of steam as it heads mind numbingly into we-are-all-the-same-underneath territory. Francine P Well meaning and genuinely funny comedy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/24/23 Full Review steve d It takes a while to get going, but it is often funny and entertaining even if it is rediculous. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant movie. Caviezel is stunning and the story is an important and inspirational one. See it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A hilarious film with a great story and cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the goofy slapstick comedy that tends to be squeezed out when they jump on a rising comedian's bandwagon. Applies decent self-deprecating humour with sincere conflict of identity and exploration of the Muslim and Jewish faith. Ending is a bit too ridiculous for feasibility and the comedy is not quite laugh out loud quality but the majority of material amongst the anti-Semitic and anti-Islamic humour suffices. A less funny 'East is East' would be the best comparison. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure what was disturbing, the fact that I understood all 3 facades depicted (moderate, conservative Islam and Judaism in general) or the blatant irony of it all. Seen in my perspective with the background raised, I find the pretense of this ironic tragedy a hilarious take on the current/ongoing state of affairs. Though sadly, the romantic punjabi influence did not kick off smoothly near the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
