Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard The Invisible War is as compelling as Silence in the House of God, Alex Gibney's study of abusive Catholic priests. Rated: 4/5 Mar 14, 2014 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Kirby Dick's typically insightful and compassionate documentary presents a harrowing picture of an epidemic of sexual assault and rape within the US military. Rated: 4/5 Mar 9, 2014 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) The film works both as advocacy and as a very moving study of women (and one or two men) whose idealism and patriotism have been utterly shattered. Rated: 3/5 Mar 7, 2014 Full Review Jordan M. Smith IONCINEMA.com Not just an important film, but one produced at the top of its creators' craft. It's a doc of rich emotion and high stakes that, thanks to its intrepid subjects, has a real chance to make a difference in the lives of future US soldiers. Feb 9, 2020 Full Review Ben Nicholson CineVue Although The Invisible War hardly breaks the mould in its execution, it makes for compelling -- if appalling -- viewing. Rated: 4/5 Mar 8, 2019 Full Review Steve Erickson Gay City News "The Invisible War" is infuriating, but in a positive way. Feb 22, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This film is a powerful documentary about the epidemic of sexual assault in the military and the effect that it has on the survivors and their lives. Overall due to the heartbreaking testimonies, and numerous statistics, it is an important film for everyone to watch and especially vital for anyone thinking about joining the military. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review júlio a Documentário pesado sobre estupro nas forças armadas do USA......:_( Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Bat R A very good documentary about an important topic... but I have one big issue with this film. If the film-makers were/are so confident in their assertion that all these women they profiled in their documentary were victims of rape/sexual assault... then why didn't they identify any of the perpetrators by name in the film... I'll tell you why... They would have had their asses sued into oblivion. I think it's very easy to say the government and military doesn't do enough, and needs to do more... but it's not that easy. Our justice system requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and in most cases like these that is a very difficult burden of proof to meet. This is not a good thing, but it is a fact. This documentary didn't name a single alleged perpetrator because they knew if they couldn't back up their accusations, they would be libel for slander and defamation of character lawsuits. So my question to the film-makers is... if this stuff is so easy to prove, and the military didn't do a good enough job... why didn't you expose these assailants... and get justice for the victims. Maybe because, unfortunately, it's not that easy!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/22 Full Review Audience Member Very touching and important documentary. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Now you have to not hate the American way of filming documentaries to really enjoy this. But it's an important topic and I hope it at least did start changes 10 years ago. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review maria s This is hard to watch but it is a necessary homework for all men and women to learn what many men and women experience in the US Military. You will learn from this film that for example, the court has decided that rape is an occupational hazard of working in a military. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
