      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Kill Room's talented cast and broadly comedic tone make for a reasonably diverting caper, even if its attempts to satirize the art world don't amount to much.

Braxtynn An unexpected and entertaining inside look at the pretentiousness of the high dollar art world. Direction was good, writing was great, acting may have been just a tad forced at times, but overall a very well composed story with a number of laugh out loud dark humor moments. Definitely recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review Sharon I love Samuel Jackson, but this movie is a stinker. Do not waste your money. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/30/23 Full Review Dan S A suprisingly good film with Samuel and Uma spot on and great together, decent plot and script make this a worth watch. You dont have to like art to enjoy this film. Thought Uma was a crack up in that character, if you happen to be in the art scene you will appreciate Umas role all the more. All the lead roles were superbly cast and acted out, thought it was great fun to watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review ANDRES D Such a good cast, I mean Uma Thurman was astonishing, a good piece of comedy, satire and refreshing 90 minutes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Michael C It had a great cast and intriguing premise, yet it fell flat on its face, failing to deliver a interesting narrative. The film's progression felt disjointed, limping from one scene to the next with the only thing keeping me interested is if there was going to be a big twist (there was not as much as it tries to give the illusion of one in the end with an oceans 11 style run down of events). The comedy was bland and shallow. At times the cast just seemed to be going through the motions. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review James H I am really surprised this was poorly accepted. I thought the acting was super, as was the dark tone and ending. The ruthlessness or relative incompetence of the principle actors came in at the correct pace. From initially disturbing and off-putting, the pretentiousness of art-world people was well framed into a satisfying conclusion. Ryan Gilbey Guardian Nicol Paone’s flat direction and Jonathan Jacobson’s listless screenplay leave the cast painting by numbers. Rated: 2/5 Nov 22, 2023 Full Review Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It tries to skewer the art world, but the result is pretty toothless. Oct 21, 2023 Full Review Thelma Adams AARP Movies for Grownups The funny, frisky crime caper plays to the leads’ chemistry, delivering an escapist delight. Rated: 4/5 Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) It’s even more biting about the craven capitalism of the art world than Velvet Buzzsaw and features some great broad comedic work from Uma Thurman and a soulful turn from Joe Manganiello. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Steve Morrissey Radio Times Nicol Paone's film has pace and smarts, and will appeal to anybody who reckons modern art is all a big con. Rated: 3/5 Nov 8, 2023 Full Review Ferdosa Abdi Screen Rant The Kill Room is a fun time, especially if you don’t expect too much from it. Despite the lack of well-developed characters, the movie is enjoyable. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 3, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
