      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Ralph Fiennes' solid central performance in The King's Man is done dirty by this tonally confused prequel's descent into action thriller tedium.

      Audience Consensus

The King's Man might be a little too long, but it takes the franchise in a fresh direction without losing any of the action fans are looking for.

Prince JD It pulled too far away from what it was meant to lead up to. Half way through I felt like I was watching a completely different movie/franchise. Charming characters and fun moments, but overall disappointing compared to what the other movies were. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review D M Love anything in this series! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/22 Full Review Jeffrey H Excellent and lots of great action!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/22 Full Review Cori It was fine. Definitely my least favorite in the Kingsman franchise. It seemed slow and long. The fight scenes were too silly. The film seemed to try to take a more serious note without actually being serious. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/31/22 Full Review sk As good as Kingsman first movie. very good action sequences and story line Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/22 Full Review Dsizzle Good fictional history. Stephen Romei The Australian Afterwards I had to check if, for example, Mata Hari seduced US president Woodrow Wilson. This did-it-happen? question holds the interest throughout what is otherwise just another well-made, well-acted spy caper. Rated: 3/5 Jan 8, 2022 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) Tonally and thematically The King's Man is all over the place, in a way that lays bare the cynicism of Vaughn's own mission: to appear transgressive yet reassuringly conventional. Rated: 1/5 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Simran Hans Observer (UK) The tone lurches awkwardly from sweeping colonial melodrama to grim battle epic, camp, pseudo-Bond caper and crass, unfunny farce. Rated: 2/5 Dec 30, 2021 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog For a prequel that promised something large, loud, and ostensibly entertaining, the movie just doesn’t quite suit up. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Zach Pope Zach Pope Reviews Awesome action & memorable characters… but left me with a story that wasn’t my cup of tea… Jul 26, 2023 Full Review Ryan Oquiza Rappler In this secret service spy prequel, director Matthew Vaughn meanders his way into the First World War to revise history, but he appears to have forgotten to revise the script.
