Nick M "Based on a true story" is stretching it, but that's how real life outlaw Al Jennings sold this one. He isn't much of an actor, the pacing is painfully slow, but it is certainly of historical interest. It's a shame that it isn't better, because Jennings is about as colorful a character as ever lived. During his 98 years he was at one point a cowboy, lawyer, train and bank robber, author, politician, film actor, film consultant, and traveling evangelist. He was arrested not too long into his outlaw days, but was pardoned by none other than Teddy Roosevelt. Once he regained his liberty he managed to attain celebrity status, largely due to his ability to spin his incredible life into even more incredible tall tales. To hear him tell it, he was one of the best gunslingers there ever was - but a real Robin Hood type (as he makes himself out to be in this picture). According to his friends, however, he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. But that can't have been altogether true, because he once fired toward his chicken coop thinking there were burglars about and accidentally killed his prized rooster.
