Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle The Land isn't a perfect film, but it is a hell of a good start, and director Caple Jr. -- and his young cast -- are artists to keep an eye on, for sure. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 15, 2016 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com It also helps that the supporting players are, to a one, incredible. Rated: 3/4 Aug 9, 2016 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com Steven Caple Jr. is a filmmaker worth watching, here and in the future. Rated: 3/4 Jul 29, 2016 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See The four young leads do phenomenal work, the characters and setting are fleshed out and authentic, and the supporting players are top notch (including an unexpectedly chilling villain). Rated: B+ Jul 3, 2020 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest It's ambitious to be sure, but not beyond Caple Jr's grasp and surely the start of a great career to come. Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy What could have been just another one of those typical, coming of age dramas can now be considered one of the summer's most influential films from one talented up and coming director, Steven Caple Jr. Aug 6, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Jerod S It's nothing especially fresh - but it's a solid story of 4 inner city boys that are wanting to make it in the skateboarding world. When small crimes open doors for larger ones with more $, they get in over their heads. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Sadly this happens more than it should . Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member So good and true to Cleveland Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member The Land is a great debut by Steven Caple Jr. Thanks to a cast with great chemistry, led by Jorge Lendeborg, the character driven story thrives - even if there isn’t anything “new” to this type of narrative. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/12/17 Full Review Audience Member Between a 6/10 and 7/10, Caple has a unique eye and a strong sense of place. Here's hoping that next time he applies them to a fresher story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Not as desperation provoking as FRESH+Brooklyn's Finest. The movie still portrays the reality of living amidst fellow citizens in a landscape negatively affected by the UPPER CLASS business and culturally significant difference in Advertising directed at impoverished blacks+Puerto Ricans. It highlights the feeding frenzy frenetic immolation which comes from hopelessness and despair! The ending seemed to focus upon this inevitability! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
