This depiction of life during Civil War was lacking authenticity, particularly with the main female character Evelyn. Her hair was nothing like women wore their in that era. Her dresses were all low cut during the day. Women did not show the bosoms until after 5:00pm. The materials and dress designs were totally wrong. The combination of all 4 observations ruined the entire movie. Very disappointing. The evil Union solider's hair was ridiculous. Costume design and hair styles were just too ridiculous to believe or rate genuinely.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. I watched the whole thing for the same reason people slow down past car accidents, plus I am in awe of Micky Rooney. I am glad he as appeared in movies after this so this wont be remembered as his last

I did not get into the film. I am not really into love films. I did not find the acting believable. It did not help that the actors did not speak in accents.

Decent! Good, solid, certainly a bit Hallmark-y, but ultimately satisfying. The ending in particular was quite well done. And really, when's the last time you saw a Civil War film that actually portrayed Southerners as something other than brutish troglodytes, and Northerners with complex loyalties?
