      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfuss are a sight for sore eyes, but they unfortunately do not get The Last Laugh in a generic buddy comedy that never musters any jokes worthy of their comedic chops.

Daniel G An unsurprising road movie, but heart-warming. Brought back actors I hadn't seen in a while, n particular, Chevy Chase. I didn't realize Chase was so much taller than Richard Dreyfus. The other players were just along for the ride, though Andie McDowell played a very sweet part in the story. Old age is what we're all facing - but as Dreyfus jokes (though that's not so original) is that the alternative to getting older is not so attractive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review erroll f In this buddy Road movie two Aging comedians leave a rest home to play the comedy clubs. Chevy Chase appears to be an out of sync robot while Richard Dreyfuss tries real hard and some sometimes succeeds. Andie MacDowell plays a hippie beauty that goes along for the ride. This is a movie you watch when you got nothing better to do. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review C T I enjoyed this movie. Great to see these pro's back on the screen. Not a lot of huge laughs but plenty of chuckles and a few tears. The whole story line holds up. It's worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/25/23 Full Review Lucien S Refreshingly funny, but you have to be able to understand the pre-dead. Great jokes. Loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved the picture. It shows you that you can do whatever you want no matter how old you are. This picture is cool and clever. Good work. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member First 45 min was quite entertaining with the cast of characters. Drolled on after that
.got a bit boring and slow. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jason Bailey New York Times The picture's single saving grace is Chase's co-star Dreyfuss, who deploys all of his considerable charisma. He shines, but not brightly enough to bring this moribund project to life. Jan 16, 2019 Full Review Keith Uhlich Hollywood Reporter Would that there was a first laugh. Jan 12, 2019 Full Review Adam Mock Film Inquiry The Last Laugh tries its best to tell a sweet tale about growing old with dignity and never giving up on your true self. The film is a mild recommendation for the right audience. Mar 20, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files The film has too many weak points to recommend immediately adding to your queue, but off the strength of Dreyfuss' performance, it's worth checking out. Rated: 5.5/10 Feb 23, 2019 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space [With] comedy talent like Chase (his most understated and likable in years) and Dreyfuss...working every inch of the frame, the result is more sweet sentiment and hearty guffaws than the material often deserves. Rated: 3/5 Feb 6, 2019 Full Review Barbara Shulgasser Common Sense Media Senior-citizen buddy comedy has salty language, sex. Rated: 2/5 Jan 23, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
