Christy Lemire RogerEbert.com Rodrigo H. Vila's movie is more annoying than profound, and much of that is because of star Hayden Christensen's overbearing narration. Rated: 0/4 Jan 18, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times The premise is effectively eerie; the presentation depressingly sloppy. Jan 16, 2019 Full Review Daniel Barnes Dare Daniel A dreary, shapeless, grey-green, post-apocalyptic incel sex fantasy, The Last Man is a chore from start to finish. Rated: 1/5 Jul 20, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... a muddled and incoherent mess of dystopian clichés without any emotional anchor. Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Gaspar Zimerman Clarín It's a schematic plot, devoid of emotion and loaded with insubstantial plot excuses, whose only function is to make everything move towards a foreseeable outcome. Kessy P Probably one of my favorite movies ever, i love the twisted view that we have in the movie (since we are seeing the point of view of a man who lost everything but most important, he lost his mind). People who dont get it, just dont get it, i've read a lot of bad views but i think you guys are just silly LOL Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Audience Member Confused, and full of pseudo-deep voice overs. Doesn't seem to care if it makes sense. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Keitel and Christensen are unfortunately trapped with a half-baked screenplay and a sedated director in this foreign apocalyptic project with some effective cinematography and potent ideas. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member OMG... Was hoping this would maybe be loosely based on Mary Shelly's fictional novel of the same name (which it clearly is NOT), but tried to give it a fair chance all the same... All that I got out if it, is that Hayden Christiansen truly cannot act - ARGH! He is terrible! Harvey Keitel leaves much to be to be desired in his own lack of acting chops here as well... how did he ever get so far in his acting career? That is, unless old age has gotten the better of him - he is also terrible! I'm actually in the process of watching it (or should I say, trying to stomach it) and am maybe only 1/2 way thru when I felt the urgent need to leave a 'fresh' review before I force myself to forget that I ever saw it - well, part of it bc I'm about to turn the God awful thing off only 1/2 way thru! Right now the 'sex scene' has just played & even that wad a disaster! That seemed as though it was nothing more than a 'filler", to pass the time bc most movies have one and/or to stretch the thing out to meet some minimum time requirement to be considered as a movie instead of a 'short'... all the same, right now it just makes me want to puke bc it's just that bad! It also makes me think back, have I seen Hayden actually (successfully) play any other part than Anakin?! Do yourself a favor & don't waste your time with this one... I absolutely feel slighted, even with it being shown on pay tv. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review corkball Watchable, but just barely. Christensen's acting has not improved much from his Star Wars days, and his lines are just plain deadpan. The story revolves around a dystopian future wrecked by climate change, which is about to get MORE wrecked by MORE climate change. In the film, it never stops raining, like England or 'All Summer in a Day'. The movie tone is dark and depressing, and the protagonist drinks and has PTSD. This movie is SOOOO downbeat that Harvey Keitel is the ray of sunshine. Geez they could have filmed ONE scene in the sun to contrast the rest of the film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The Last Man stars Hayden Christensen as a combat veteran who is suffering from PTSD and Harvey Keitel as a priest who states that the end is on its way. The priest warns everyone to take cover before the world comes to an end because of climate change. The story was mediocre, the editing and acting was not up to par. This was a B rated movie with two good male actors. Skip this one don't waste your time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
