Shotshot S Italian giallo Homage… 4 fans of those colorful kills seen in films like opera / tbh: It was refreshing to watch a newer made movie that left out what is normally considered "scary" ie) overused jitter— cutz & cheesy VFX. This is pretty on point to slasher, and should be on your Halloween list to watch if you haven't. Drinking games to the kills? Yeah. Its one of those party puke ones. (Good thing!) overall= a good time. Some parts are wobbly but, it holds up after more than one watch, enjoy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie! Fantastic homage to Giallo films. A lot of subtlety and intense atmosphere leading up to the gore. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/22 Full Review Audience Member It had its moments, but it's far from anything special in terms of any other hasher-slasher movie. Wouldn't recommend going out of your way to watch, even if you like horror movies. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant tribute to Giallo films but it has enough to stand out on its own lots of nods to Fulci Bava and of course Argento. That said the scares are great and I think this director is one to look out for Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/22 Full Review robert p This movie is a copy of an older film that frankly was done better, but this movie is still frightening and gory and horrifying. Thanks to all the top notch actors in this film for making a pretty frightful movie, thus my *3 & 1/2* rating!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a very good slasher and a nice hommage to the old movie theatre. Phil Hoad Guardian The Last Matinee only manages to cut skin-deep. Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2021 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A classically composed horror movies, for fans of horror movies, about horror movies. Aug 10, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety It's adequately diverting fare for those who'll grok its somewhat insular appeal. Aug 5, 2021 Full Review Dallas King Flick Feast It has the feel of an old faded 35mm print that has been through the mill a few times. Maxi Contenti does the same to his characters, peppering the movie with a number of gruesome and gleefully gory kills. Rated: 3/5 Nov 12, 2022 Full Review Q.V. Hough Vague Visages The Last Matinee doesnt necessarily celebrate gore cinema, but rather the concept that moviegoers can evolve and mature by directly facing their fears. Feb 18, 2022 Full Review Josiah Teal Film Threat There's just enough spectacle and slasher creativity to merit a watch but, I am uncertain how many rewatches it has in the tank.
