The documentary follows filmmakers Jack Baxter and Joshua Faudem, survivors of a suicide bombing of the live music bar where they were filming. The filmmakers travel across Europe to refugee camps and mosques to understand the essence of Islam and uncover the truth about the international terrorists who almost killed them. The Last Sermon is the story of a quixotic quest that becomes all too real. Fourteen years earlier, Baxter and Faudem had survived a terrorist attack by British Nationals at Mike’s Place, next door to the American Embassy on the Tel Aviv beachfront. The suicide bombing changed the course of their lives, and their 2004 documentary -- the award-winning and critically acclaimed Blues by the Beach.

Nell Minow RogerEbert.com The film introduces us to some intriguing characters, several of whom deserve their own movies, but it would benefit from a clearer focus. Audience Member Film producer and my fellow survivor of the terrorist attack on Mike's Place, Jack Baxter, took an incredible journey of his own to find answers. The Last Sermon seeks answers and is a compelling film. Jack succeeds in communicating with the most likely and unlikely characters somehow connected to this event and/or the background setting for the radicalization of young Muslims. It is a unique journey and film, indeed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I was riveted by the film. The filmmakers, who nearly died in a terrorist bombing, take us on an eye opening journey as they try to come face to face with the family of their attackers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member An important and impactful film that asks the questions we all have. A brave journey to find answers to "why" "how" "to what end?"
