Jul 21, 2023 Full Review Carlos Ovalle But Why Tho? A Geek Community The Last Thing Mary Saw finishes with a bang. With a strong ensemble cast, a riveting second and third act, and an atmosphere rich in mystery and dread, how can you go wrong? Rated: 9/10 Jan 22, 2023 Full Review Jessica Scott We Who Walk Here Though it raises far more questions than it has answers for, the answer to the film’s title is as satisfying as it is devastating; a perfect solution for a dread-soaked slow burn about queer love in the face of fear and prejudice. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Mothers M Why you gotta make him weird 🙁 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/27/23 Full Review Hugo S New York, 1843. "The Last Thing Mary Saw" portraits the horrors of sexual repression through the lens of a lesbian love story. The young women are interrogated and tortured countless times by religious fundamentalists with the intention of "correcting" their sexual deviations. The horrifying fear of God prevails in this atmospheric religious horror movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Overall, it's quite rare to find a horror movie that attempts to deliver something different. Visually this film is pleasing, and the plot delivers many unsettling and disturbing moments when very little is occurring. The film is a slow burn, and honestly, there were some moments within the plot of the first act that I struggled to process and understand. Nevertheless, there is some impressive filmmaking on display here. The journey this film took me on, including the film's finale, will stay with me for some time, which is always a positive aspect of cinema,  thanks to the writer and director Edoardo Vitaletti. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review kelly g Today's horror movie fan may find this film too slow-paced, however, I grew up with the gothic-style of Hammer films. Director Edoardo Vitaletti pulls you into a very haunting tale of mid-18th century life. It is very easy to see Vitaletti has a very promising career ahead of him. He is unrestrained and tells religiously repressed family in eerie Upstate New York in 1843. The film is very ambitious and well-acted. Stephanie Scott and Isabell Fuhrman are perfect in their roles as two lovers who must hide their relationship without any success. You have to add this to your must-see list of Halloween viewing this season.
