What to Know

Critics Consensus

Grim, plodding, and an overall ill fit for Vin Diesel's particular charms, The Last Witch Hunter will bore and/or confuse all but the least demanding action-fantasy fans.

Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Diesel is definitely not the kind of actor who can effortlessly coast through a film by dint of his rakish wit and charm. He needs a vehicle (ahem) that plays to his strengths. The Last Witch Hunter is definitely not such a vehicle. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 12, 2016 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Picture Harry Potter for Emo kids. No wonder there's already a sequel in the works. Brood on, Vin. Rated: 3/5 Feb 23, 2016 Full Review Alison Willmore BuzzFeed News It is terrible. It is fabulously entertaining. Nov 9, 2015 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Operates in a series of tropes and clichés, neither improving nor innovating upon them. Rated: 1/4 May 3, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Diesel is fast and furious enough to deliver the Conan the Barbarian level dialogue ('The benefit of eternal life is that I get to kill you twice!') with conviction but the movie is dull enough you'll wish these witches would go away for a spell. Rated: 2/5 Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Damond Fudge KCCI (Des Moines, IA) The Last Witch Hunter is a bland attempt at franchise filmmaking. It's not entirely dull, but there's very little about it that's exciting, either. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Andy G I know I'm going against the grain with this review, but my family and myself really enjoyed this movie. It kept our attention the entire time! The special effects looked amazing and I really enjoyed the lore behind the entire film. Don't understand why it was rated so low by the audience? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Audience Member Great great movie!!!!! This movie is a classic, just like the 80s warlock movies. This movie was a modern make of a soon to be Colt classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/27/24 Full Review Beverly B 🥰Maybe I'm a little biased.😎😁 (Vin Diesel is one of my top three favorite actors today) But, I absolutely loved this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Hargie M The story jumps from one set piece to another, occasionally skipping logic and character development along the way. The main antagonist is a one-dimensional villain despite her original intentions. Her motivations and backstory were not explored in a way that would have added more layers to the conflict. But despite this, it has its truly enjoyable moments. Knowledge and world building showed a rich and complex universe that I wish was more explored. Mixing ancient curses with modern witchcraft was an interesting idea that had the potential for greater depth and originality. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Avrge0X A bad film but fun at times. The story can at times be interesting but there are no surprises to be found in this film Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review baronr33 I like just about every one of Vin Diesel's movies except this one. There is just nothing to make me care about the characters. The editing is bad and jumps around from scene to scene. The story line has been done before in many other movies about so called witches. (Demons, warlocks, mummies) Put Tom Cruise in the movie, The Mummy... It's basically the same movie, but the actress Playing the mummy was much more interesting than this caricature of a video game witch. Unfortunately there's nothing interesting about her or her powers. Vin Diesel seems bored and Not interested In the outcome either. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
