Die-hard romantics will love this film, which is a very twenty-first century fairytale of love overcoming all the odds. For the more cynical, there are holes that can easily be picked here.

Zabarauskas' film is about how stereotypical signifiers of identity can often overshadow characteristics that speak to a person's true self. But The Lawyer ends up becoming as simplified as what it was setting out to subvert.

I thought this was a very good movie dealing with a complicated issue. A little slow at the beginning, it improves with time. Of course a Lithuanian and Syrian man would converse in English, and both actors do a very good job. I have had a similar relationship and it is a spiders web of conflicting problems and the film does try to address some of them matters. I think it is a brave film dealing with a sensitive subject in all three countries, Lithuania, Syria and Serbia. I can only recommend the film. Also we didn't have to suffer the often bleak ending in many gay movies.
