David Reddish Queerty Viewers will no doubt debate if the story theyve just seen is a romantic dreamor a total nightmare. Rated: 3/4 Mar 20, 2022 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens Die-hard romantics will love this film, which is a very twenty-first century fairytale of love overcoming all the odds. For the more cynical, there are holes that can easily be picked here. Rated: 3/5 Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Matthew St. Clair Cinema Sentries Actor Dogac Yildiz does a fine job at refusing to play Ali as a figure of martyrdom. Sep 23, 2020 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Although the movie's screenwriting and acting have minor flaws, The Lawyer is worth watching for the overall story ... The movie makes an unforgettable point of showing how the negative effects of a war reach far beyond the borders of the country at war. Sep 11, 2020 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall This is a remarkably sensitive film that touches on universal emotions as well as societal issues both within the gay community and in the wider world Rated: 4/5 Apr 6, 2020 Full Review Alistair Ryder Vague Visages Zabarauskas' film is about how stereotypical signifiers of identity can often overshadow characteristics that speak to a person's true self. But The Lawyer ends up becoming as simplified as what it was setting out to subvert. Apr 3, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Jon F I thought this was a very good movie dealing with a complicated issue. A little slow at the beginning, it improves with time. Of course a Lithuanian and Syrian man would converse in English, and both actors do a very good job. I have had a similar relationship and it is a spiders web of conflicting problems and the film does try to address some of them matters. I think it is a brave film dealing with a sensitive subject in all three countries, Lithuania, Syria and Serbia. I can only recommend the film. Also we didn't have to suffer the often bleak ending in many gay movies.
