Robert Levin Newsday "The Life List" is painstakingly safe. It has no conflict, let alone an edge. Rated: 0.5/4 Mar 31, 2025 Full Review Caroline Siede AV Club Much like a “Live, Laugh, Love” cross-stitch has its place in a certain type of home, The Life List has its place as a cathartic tearjerker for those who care more about life-affirming stories than quality filmmaking. Rated: C Mar 28, 2025 Full Review Courtney Howard Variety It’s frustratingly more concerned with telling us how she’s financially able to afford having a quarter-life identity crisis than it is with giving her journey toward enlightenment any genuine, satiating sense of internal transformation. Mar 28, 2025 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media There are moments in this film that can feel overly manipulative, but if you let yourself get swept up in the characters, you might find this a meaningful and rewarding journey. Apr 2, 2025 Full Review M.N. Miller Film Focus Online Netflix’s The Life List is a romantic drama that is far too long but has such an adorable performance from its star, Sophia Carson. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Rachel LaBonte Screen Rant While The Life List can't entirely avoid some shallowness, it's a cozy watch with a strong message made stronger by Sofia Carson's performance. SkyRo P The 2025 drama film titled "The Life List," featuring Sophia Carlson, initially gave me the impression that it would be a cliché and overly sentimental experience, especially since it's over two hours long. I often associate such films with Hallmark, which typically deliver short narratives with limited depth, resulting in varying degrees of quality. The plot revolves around a mother who discovers a list created by her daughter when she was just 13 years old. The mother encourages her daughter to fulfill the items on this list, unaware that she is facing a terminal illness. Without delving too deeply into the storyline, the daughter manages to complete one goal, only to find herself needing to retrieve a DVD from her late mother, which is crucial for her inheritance, as arranged by their lawyer. While the film has its share of bumps along the way, I found it to be a charming journey filled with engaging plots and details. Despite my initial skepticism, I wouldn't dismiss it as a hidden gem. I believe the film serves its purpose well and delivers a heartfelt message. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a touching story; it deserves recognition rather than criticism. The film fulfills the expectations it sets for itself. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Audience Member Seems like I loved it for all the reasons others disliked it. Good, funny, endearing. Made me appreciate the life I have with all its ups and downs. Excuse me while I go start making videos for my children for them to watch after I’m gone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Marie S I'm guessing this is a love it or hate it type of movie. I fall into the first category. I found it to be a very captivating movie. A wake up call to not settle and to bring back things in your life that inspired you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Quinn M A half star seems really generous here. The writing and acting are remarkably bad - like the wicked web of Netflix distributing this crap and it somehow eating up the ratings to #1 for audience streaming. It's nauseating but a good outlet, I suppose, if you want to rage for a full 2 hrs 5 min. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Micaelle P I think it’s a great film. I’m surprised by the negative reviews I’m seeing on here. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Sherlline C It has a very intriguiging story. Netflix recommended it to me. However, Sofia Carson's acting is flat. Her expressions were the same. Her voice or intonations is monotonous. I thought there would be a character progression as she goes thru her list. Man, there's only about 3 on the list left and whew, still the same emotionless, expressionless acting! This is my FIRST TIME ever to NOT FINISH A SHOW/MOVIE. My first time to ever had to sign up for iMDB and Rotten Tomatoes JUST TO VENT out my frustration! Jennifer Aniston and Kirsten Stewart can do better than this and they were called bad in acting! This is the WORST! What a waste of time and GREAT STORY to tell/portray. Coming from recently binge watching "Never have I ever" and "Younger" from Nextflix too - from a new job of Maitreyia to the icon Sutton Foster. Her acting is just --- duh whatever!
