Peter Stack San Francisco Chronicle Hewing to the exotic epic look of the original blockbuster, the new direct-to-video sequel "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" is enchanting small-screen entertainment that feels big. Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Caryn James New York Times It's disappointing that this girls-are-strong theme doesn't play out as smartly as it should, but that's the one weakness in this sleek, joyful, entertaining film. Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety Not unlike its predecessor, "Lion King II" has enough across-the-board appeal to entertain viewers of all ages. Feb 23, 2012 Full Review Jeremy Conrad IGN Movies While it could never match up to the powerful original, The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride is a surprisingly good direct-to-video sequel. Rated: 7/10 Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Kate Pavao Common Sense Media LION KING II is good by Disney sequel standards and unique in that the story actually follows directly from the first movie. Rated: 3/5 Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Teresa Lindeman Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Lots of grub jokes, catchy musical interludes and a satisfying villainess with the voice of Suzanne Pleshette. Rated: 3/4 Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Jerald J Very well done definitely wanted more :-) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Joshua H This was a pleasant surprise apart from the songs not obviously being as good as the original but the story is actually really compelling taking the Romeo & Juliet format for The Lion King is actually very compelling and the story is told quite effectively with engaging characters. Yes it does feel like a direct to video sequel so it's quality is not as good but this is generally quite good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Qua'Mik C Good plot, great characters the fact that simba has PTSD from the first movie and didn’t trust kovu until the end was a great little arc for simba Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Stephen C What the **** were you thinking? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Kyo S Perfect sequel! Love it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Alysha S 2.86. The film is a worthy collection to the Lion King franchise, but for a variety of reasons, falls way short of the original film in quality. Among them are what seem clear are attempts to connect different story elements. That attempt is confusing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews
