Peter Stack San Francisco Chronicle Hewing to the exotic epic look of the original blockbuster, the new direct-to-video sequel "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" is enchanting small-screen entertainment that feels big. Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Caryn James New York Times It's disappointing that this girls-are-strong theme doesn't play out as smartly as it should, but that's the one weakness in this sleek, joyful, entertaining film. Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety Not unlike its predecessor, "Lion King II" has enough across-the-board appeal to entertain viewers of all ages. Feb 23, 2012 Full Review Jeremy Conrad IGN Movies While it could never match up to the powerful original, The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride is a surprisingly good direct-to-video sequel. Rated: 7/10 Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Kate Pavao Common Sense Media LION KING II is good by Disney sequel standards and unique in that the story actually follows directly from the first movie. Rated: 3/5 Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Teresa Lindeman Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Lots of grub jokes, catchy musical interludes and a satisfying villainess with the voice of Suzanne Pleshette. Rated: 3/4 Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This 1998 sequel keeps the impressive, colorful visuals of it's 1994 predecessor but falls flat on memorable characters and musical elements that made the original movie iconic. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review JOSEPH N It's great and the songs are good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Giani C It’s a solid movie, good for kids of course, but not as good as the first movie. The story, the characters, the plot and the cast are all about the same as the first part and did a good job. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Hugo F My opinion is that the film has an interesting soundtrack, a story perhaps inspired by classic novels and also shows an evolution in some characters with new perspectives, an evolution with a father and his daughter, it also shows the power of humility with differences and It's a pity that the film didn't go to the cinema, but it was a good film I'd say. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Shane C The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is the best of the direct to DVD Disney sequel and the most underrated Disney movie ever. I love the new and returning characters and I love the Romeo and Juliet plot. Kovu and Kiara are relatable and easy to root for Protagonists. They have a perfect love story. I also like Simba in this movie. He's not perfect, he's still learning and in the end, he learned not Judge a book by it's cover. All and all, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is a perfect sequel and a underrated Disney movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Emily B The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride is very good. I would definitely recommend it. If you love the original. You will love this one as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
