The plot manoeuvres in this léger noir are so boilerplate and predictable that viewers are likely to find themselves expecting much bigger twists than are actually delivered.

Pay it half a mind and every few minutes a loud bang, a gunshot or an actor yelling would draw attention. The plot is so straightforward that nothing will be missed. Alas, nothing is gained either, and the entertainment value is subpar at best.

The Locksmith is an idiotic flop whose screenplay should've stayed locked up in places where bad screenplays never get made into movies. The plot twists are really plot holes. The performances and direction are low-quality and uninspired.

(Phillippe) has found a home in these B-movie thrillers. But to his credit there’s never a sense he’s slumming it or just cashing a check. He’s a sturdy lead who finds ways to make each of his characters interesting. It’s the same with “The Locksmith”.

He walked out of prison ten years later and hadn't aged a day. Also he somehow had his tips frosted while incarcerated. Didn't get any better after this.
