If you can get past some rather overegged child-actor performances, it’s an enjoyable enough option for Easter holiday family entertainment. Go to Full Review

The sheer volume of Blyton’s writing blinds people to the fact that most of her books were rubbish. And not even a modern retelling with a top-drawer cast can disguise that. Go to Full Review

[...] even from the peripheries of the film, Garfield commands every single scene he’s in. On paper, Tim is some kind of manic pixie dream boy, but he makes him so much more. We feel his disappointments, his losses and his triumphs. Go to Full Review

Like all the best children’s films, there’s real emotion at its core, as it makes the case for kids to simply be kids: to get off the screens, fire their imaginations and open their hearts. Go to Full Review

David M @RT34351537 1d If I could give this film 0 stars I would … suppose it gets half a star because there’s a touching scene with Andrew Garfield at the end but honestly I’d skip this movie…. See more Elle R @RT75982024 2d As others have said, if you like the original story then don’t watch this. Or watch this as a stand alone, with little expectation it will match up to the imaginary world of the original. I don’t know why they sought to modernise this classic in the way they did. It had so much potential to be whimsical and amazing, but it was borderline deranged in casting and design. Parts of the casting and costumes reminded me of the hunger games. Admittedly in the earlier part of the movie there were a few funny one liners. The rest was a disappointment. See more Me S @RT31930276 Jun 22 Grew up reading these books and watching them come to life has given something back to me that I thought I had lost. Thank you! See more Bethany A @RT67661844 Jun 16 Feel like they missed the mark with the world build of the film. Characters should have been as they are described in the books, via cgi or something, not fully grown adults dressed in costume - felt more pantomime than movie. Also the attitude of the children in the books are great from the get go - WiFi kids just didn’t uphold the foundations of the personalities in the books. See more Farah R. @Farah Jun 6 I’ve missed this kind of family movie that all members can enjoy regardless of their age. The story is fascinating and the actors did a great job of making its heartwarming message come through. The costume design and makeup are also beautiful, capturing that enchanting storybook look. We had a great time watching it together. See more Les N @Vegas628 Jun 5 The characters at the end saved it. See more Read all reviews
