Nell Minow RogerEbert.com The movie does not live up to the eternally enchanting music, but it serves as an enjoyable delivery system for experiencing it again, which is magic enough. Rated: 3/4 Mar 10, 2023 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times If viewers can focus on its engaging young cast, vivid appearances by several international opera stars and well-executed melding of reality and fantasy, “The Magic Flute”... should prove a buoyant and enjoyable musical journey. Mar 10, 2023 Full Review Glenn Kenny New York Times In a way it’s kind of neat. In another way it’s kind of dopey. The movie toggles between those two states throughout. But the tunes are nice, and it is novel, one could say, to hear them sung in non-operatic modes. Mar 9, 2023 Full Review Sarah Vincent Cambridge Day Having high school students who could sing would help. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 16, 2023 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion This farrago of YA romance, CGI adventure and musical bastardization fails on all counts. Rated: C- Apr 5, 2023 Full Review Ray Pride Newcity It’s an odd concoction, a sleek modern world mixed with a pasteboard fantasy dimension. Rated: 2/10 Mar 20, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Heckfire1978 Musical and magical. A beautiful and fantastical trip into a timeless masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/23 Full Review Lydia B FANTASTIC! Words cannot describe how truly magical this movie is! Both the real world and the magic flute's world are so visually stunning, it takes one's breath away! And everyone involved can sing so beautifully! They really hit it out of the park by hiring professional singers for the Queen and King roles. I truly enjoyed the newcomers to the acting world, and I cannot wait to see how they continue to blossom throughout their careers. And F. Murray Abraham is truly in his element as the grumpy, erudite authority figure. But the real standout is Iwan Rheon as the scene-stealing Papageno. Even when the focus is on another character, he is such a commanding presence. I truly wish that I could see him in more roles. If he had played his "Inhumans" character in the same goofy, mischievous way he played Papageno, maybe "Inhumans" would have lsted more than one season. All in all, this is a must-watch for everyone, especially as an introduction to Mozart's iconic masterpiece. I think Mozart himself would be charmed by this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/23 Full Review Monica B I was ok, the people's voices were incredible, but it was a long and somewhat boring story! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Christina Not really into Oprah Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Shannon D It was terrible. It made no sense and flowed horribly. I hate I wasted my money on it. Definitely not a kids movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Shannon Duffy The lead actor, Jack Wolfe, is lovely and likable and he makes this flawed movie quite watchable with his effortless charm. The acting and singing is very three-and-a-half stars throughout, with the exception of excellent acting from Niamh McCormack and Iwan Rheon and some truly spectacular vocals from soprano Sabine Devieilhe in the role of Queen of the Night, Worth the watch, especially if you're a fan of the story.
