Steve D Only the kids will enjoy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Audience Member Another one of the many entries featuring the lovable sheep dog, Lassie and the late James Stewart in his last live action appearance Here the titular canine travels to Colorado with a businessman The young owner's grandfather refuses to sell his vineyards Lassie makes her way home to California but not without its share of challenges The film unfortunately failed at the box office and disappointed critics But the main song When You're Loved by Debby Boone got nominated for an Oscar so that's something Plus it wouldn't be the last time Lassie would make an onscreen appearance The movie itself is harmless family entertainment, I won't lie the first half is pretty heartbreaking seeing the dog being taken away Lassie comes across some colorful characters from amateur wrestlers to banjo players and thankfully none of them are despicable Director Don Chaffey makes a relatively simple and heartfelt story of a dog but also his love of his family looking for each other Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review bill t Man, I just felt sorry for... Wait, who do I feel sorry for? I guess for the audiences nowadays who stumble upon this as something entertaining, because it's DREADFUL. Total sentimental pap, with Stewart doing it for the cheque, Rooney for the gig, and everyone else doing it for the resume I guess. The story is there, something about a greedy land owner taking away a competitor's dog when he cant have his land. But my god, everything is early eightied up to maximum, and well, the soundtrack (yes Stewart and Rooney sing in this) from the get go should give you fair warning enough. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Three great stars of the 1940's combine in this cheaply made Lassie film. Stewart and Rooney are very good and while she isn't at the top of her game, Lassie is okay too. Nice to see Mike Mazurki, Alice Faye and Gene Evans along the way too. Rooney even has a song! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member I could not believe that Pernell Roberts played a bad guy in this. I am so used to seeing him as Adam Cartwright or Trapper John. I wanted to cry when I saw him playing a bad guy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I believe that I have probably seen all the Lassie movies ever put out. Lassie movies are by far my most favorite movie. It is a clean, safe movie for family, friends and children. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
