Sutton S @Nuggets Dec 18 Movie is TRASH. The book is amazing and awesome. The movie changes EVERYTHING not lying. Bartok whynn,one of the main characters, isnt even in the movie!? There's a king despite the book calling Baltese a city? And the king has that stuipid Disney QuIrKy and SiLlY attitude I want to hit him. The movie doesn't know anything about the 1800s as you can tell. Outfits are like 2010s and the countess is an young, shy, adn hates attention which is the complete opposite of the book. I hate Gloria's hair, leo Mattie is a royal guard and not a officer, Vilna Lutz has BOTH LEGS, It doesn't snow untill the end, and the elephant remembers peter!? Did the writers read the book? This movie is an insult to the hard efforts put into the book. DO NOT WATCH! TERRIBLE! CHANGES EVERYTHING. My whole family from my 5 year old to my 15 year old and my husband any myself saw it together and loved it. It was funny and silly and full of heart and was also serious at times with a great theme. See more Grace D @RT54461802 02/15/2025 I suspect this was based on a well-enough written book, but the chronology was terrible, the narration was worse than superfluous, and it reeked of PC message-making. (I can only take so much overt lecturing by a whimsical know-it-all canned narrator.) Neither the characters nor their relationships with each other were in the least believable, and it couldn't have further belabored the theme of "overcoming the impossible," to such an extent that it reduced it to trope status. The only thing saving it from being absolutely abysmal was the beauty of the animation, which nonetheless seemed to waver between realism and Looney Tunes.
