Abandoned as a youth, Mabruq (Suheil Haddad) lives in a small town in Galilee where the residents mostly look down upon him. He is smitten with a withdrawn young woman, Jamilah (Mihaela Mitraki), and he looks up to Mahmud (Mohammad Bakri), the local fix-it man. The muktahr (Makram Khoury) is the village leader and does his best to maintain the peace by keeping the Israeli military happy, but, when trouble strikes the area, everyone's life is changed.
