Audience Member Il mostro is hilarious, zany and with a tinge of ridiculousness that veers on the surreal. Benigni is a powerhouse as usual, bringing his irreverent humour to this film along with his usual acrobatic physical prowess. Braschi is fantastic in her role too, she plays her parts in Benigni's films in a way you could never imagine any other actress play them, providing each scene she is in with a certain otherworldiness. Also, she and husband Benigni sizzle together on screen. Another characteristic I loved about this film was the element of innocence that kept poking through the script, the performances, the costumes and the music. In fact by the time the ending arrived I was crying not only with laughter, but due to the poetic tenderness Benigni gifted us in this work of art. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Aender S Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi in top form. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review C.S.R This movie is hilarious! There was one part in the movie I was laughing so hard I can't remember when I saw a movie that had me in stitches like that? I just happened to come across this movie and I'm so glad I did! A+ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Audience Member Adorable and a good laugh all the way, un-politically correct, with some classics quotes and fresh ideas, one of the best from Benigni pre- Life is Beautiful. Do not miss it Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Before ascending to his insurmountable zenith with LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (1997, 8/10), Roberto Benigni's THE MONSTER is a winsome farce about an innocent layabout Loris (Benigni) is wrongly identified as a serial women-slaughterer at large, in order to catch him red-handed, the police force assigns a young policewoman Jessica (Braschi) to go to great lengths to entice him into the irrepressible perpetration (ultimately, a red riding hood costume), therefore, a spate of funny sketches ensure while Loris' resistance is ultra-impenetrable. read rest of my review on my blog: http://wp.me/p1eXom-1ry Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Perhaps over the top in a couple of scenes, but Benigni teaches how slapstick should be!
