Phil Hoad Guardian If Cronin had stayed similarly grounded, he might have had one of the best British horror films in years on his hands; as it is, he hasn’t, but has a pretty promising future instead. Logan D A bereaved father and his child's friend enter the moors to find the son's body. How can sheep be so scary? Yes, the sheep are frightening. Symbolic, of course, but frightening. This is an atmospheric and melancholic film about loss and regret. A few times it features some very disorienting "found footage" camera work I found unnecessary. The scenery included of the moors is fascinating and beautiful. I'd recommend the film just for that. I also thought the director didn't balance the genres of crime and horror very well. But, overall, an enjoyable viewing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Tomas T So this was a very bad movie. The beginning looks quite interesting, but it is replaced by boredom, and when an interesting scene appears in the film, it is immediately replaced by boredom. Visualization and film effects are also not very impressive, so you are basically just bored from the beginning to the end of the film. And is this supposed to be horror? They can't possibly be serious. Just boring, boring and boring again. I definitely do not recommend this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Valerii Ege D The Moor promises suspense and intrigue but delivers only tedium. However, the film's visual and sound design are quite impressive. Chris Cronin, in my opinion, chose the wrong story. His visual vision is excellent; with a better story, he could gain significant recognition. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review scott l This could have been a great movie, it keeps you believing that it is going to get better, but it just doesn't. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Anthony M My goodness, what a slog this movie was. Lingering shots of the moor coupled with a heavily doom-laden soundtrack are no substitutes for an effectively conjured feeling of evil. The only time weirdness raises its head is when a goat appears to commit suicide on the moor. We don't know why it did it, and that's what makes it genuinely spooky. Unfortunately, the scene highlights a lack of eeriness in the movie in general. Endlessly wandering around the misty moor looking scared just doesn't cut it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review simon b Initially, this film has great potential. Despite an intriguing plot and credible characters (including the magnificent Bernard Hill) the film loses focus and ends up unsatisfactorily. There was scope here for a resolution but it never came.
