Former opera singer Joachim Dallayrac (José van Dam) begins teaching two promising students, Sophie (Anne Roussel) and troubled Jean (Philippe Volter), and all three form a strong bond despite the arduous training. Soon Sophie and Jean are invited to a singing competition staged by Dallayrac's old rival, Prince Scotti (Patrick Bauchau). And although he only invited them as an act of revenge, as he fully expects them to lose to his star pupil, Sophie and Jean are intent on winning nevertheless.
